How the cabinet parts are calculated
The calculator builds a frameless cabinet: the sides run full height and the bottom and rails sit between them, so they are two board thicknesses shorter than the cabinet width. Doors overlay the carcass with a 3 mm gap all round and between doors; shelves are 2 mm shorter than the opening.

Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate a cabinet bottom?
Cabinet width minus two board thicknesses: a 600 mm cabinet in 18 mm board has a 564 mm bottom.
How big is the door of a 600 mm cabinet?
With a 3 mm gap on each side: 594 mm wide for one door, or two doors of 295.5 mm.
