Plyo Box Plans
A plyo box for box jumps and step-ups: a closed plywood box with three different side lengths, so it gives three jump heights depending on which face is down. The classic 20 × 24 × 30 in box comes out of one 4 × 8 sheet of 3/4 in plywood, with a brace in the middle so the top does not flex when you land. Enter your three heights, 12/14/16 or 16/20/24 for beginners, to get the cut list.

How it is built
- Cut a hand hole about 30 × 125 mm (1 1/4 × 5 in) in each end before assembly, near the top of the high orientation.
- Glue every joint and screw every 150 mm (6 in), with the screw heads sunk below the surface.
- Round all edges with a router or sandpaper, then add anti-slip tread to the landing faces.
Common mistakes
- Leaving out the center brace: the top flexes and the joints loosen.
- Leaving sharp corners: a missed jump on a square edge hurts your shins.
Tools you need
- Circular saw with a guide
- Jigsaw
- Drill/driver
- Sander
Frequently asked questions
What size is a standard plyo box?
20 × 24 × 30 in (508 × 610 × 762 mm) is the standard 3-in-1 plyo box for adults. 16 × 20 × 24 in and 12 × 14 × 16 in suit beginners, kids and step-ups.
What plywood should I use for a plyometrics box?
3/4 in (18 mm) plywood, glued and screwed every 6 in (150 mm). Thinner plywood flexes and the screws pull out under repeated jumps.
Does it fit on one sheet?
The 20 × 24 × 30 in box, brace included, fits on one 4 × 8 ft sheet. Check the cutting plan for other sizes.
How do I make it safe?
Round every edge and corner, sand it smooth, and glue anti-slip tread or rubber matting to the faces you land on. Check it does not rock before each use.
